What is syncope? Syncope is temporary loss of consciousness due to in sufficient blood supply to the brain. It results in peripheral pooling of blood and heart muscles are not able to pump blood that is essential to meet the needs. It normally comes in conditions like fear, anxiety, depression and of course adrenalin becomes insufficient. Once my mother was cooking in the kitchen, suddenly I heard some sound. When I went there I found her lying down. Initially I didn’t know what had happened. I immediately provided her with enough air and made her lie in such a position with legs up and head down. This will facilitate enormous amount of blood to flow to the brain and she gains her consciousness. After some time she was given lots of water with glucose to drink. She became perfectly alright. If the condition gets worse we should make sure that the person is taken to the hospital and administered adrenalin intravenously. The remedy should be accomplished in a smart and quick manner. My presence of mind made my mother feel much better. So if we come across such a situation at home, we should act accordingly. Thus home becomes “SWEET HOME” with every member being hale and healthy.
Summer – holidays have begun for our children. It is the perfect time to go for picnics, trips to beach, go for swimming classes, playing cricket in the hot sun, etc. Well, it is all enjoyable only when the sun does not affect us. Heat will make us feel thirsty. Therefore, we have to drink tender coconut, citrus fruit juices. Bananas and apples do wonder during summer. Another important thing that cramps our summer is the skin. Sometime we get rashes, prickly heat and the fear of getting dark. Our skin contains a pigment known as melanin. It is the natural protection against the ultraviolet rays of sun.
When our skin is exposed to the sun, the melanin cells multiply very fast and make the skin look darker. A sunscreen lotion and cream acts as a shield protecting us from the sunrays. Face is the most affected area. To protect the face getting darker, wash it very often. Extracts of Aloe Vera cool our skin and retain its moisture so that we look fresh despite the summer heat. Raw cucumber and carrots will help to keep our skin healthy. Mixture of limejuice with rose water enhances the color of the skin. Nature has provided lot of resources to correct the defects. Enjoy the summer sun without affecting our skin.
